Master Data Specialist - Governance

Roster: Monday to Friday
Master Data Specialist – Governance is responsible for ensuring Fortescue’s SAP Plant Maintenance Master Data is accurate, compliant, and complete. This role is the custodian and enforcer of the governing standards, procedures, and processes.
Working within the Process, Systems and Assurance team, the Master Data Specialist – Governance collaborates with subject matter experts across multiple disciplines, ensuring all outputs are consistent, compliant, and easily understood.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Management: Maintain, update and Validate master data across multiple systems, ensuring compliance with data governance standards
- Governance & Compliance: Support the implementation of master data policies, ensuring alignment with business rules, architecture, and regulatory requirements
- Quality & Integrity: Monitor data quality, perform audits and resolve discrepancies to enhance data accuracy and consistency
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, Finance, Supply Chain and Operations to ensure seamless data integration and adherence to governance frameworks
- Process improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance data management processes, drive automation, and implement best practices for efficiency
- Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner, acting as a key contact for master data inquiries
- Reporting & Insights: Generate reports and insights from master data to support business decision-making and strategic initiatives
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in master data management (MDM) data governance, or similar role
- Strong Knowledge of data governance principles, policies and best practices in mining
- Proficiency in SAP and data management tools
- Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders across multiple departments and drive data governance initiatives
- Strong communication skills to convey complex data issues in an understandable manner
- Experience with data quality frameworks, validation techniques and automation tools is a plus
