Mechanical Senior Engineer
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth or DIDO ex Port Hedland
The role of the Senior Mechanical Engineer is to provide technical support using initiatives and applying engineering techniques, data analysis, improvement projects and defect elimination for the operational Ore Processing Facility.
The role also entails leading a small team of Mechanical Engineers to prioritise manage their day-to-day work and provide ad hoc supervision to the CHF Engineering team/cover department Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain focus on team objectives and provide technical/problem solving guidance to Engineers
- Provide ad hoc Engineering and Reliability Superintendent coverage for weekends
- Performance manage delegates and promote good team culture
- Liaison with relevant departments to provide technical solutions
- Manage the development and execution of short to medium term operational projects
- Complete 5 Whys, Root Cause Analysis for plant downtime events
- Short term Maintenance Strategies management and SWI developments
- Critical Spares management support
- Ensure correct application of Health & Safety standards including Change Management
- Monitor quality assurance of critical processes
- Achieve targets set for defined sections of area budgets
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 5 years fixed plant experience in an Engineering and/or Projects role
- Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Prior experience leading a team
- Mining experience in hard rock applications
- Prior experience with vibrating screens, crushers, centrifugal slurry pumps, conveyors, chutes, baghouses and cyclones.
- Knowledge of relevant Mines legislations and regulations
- Knowledge of computer management systems, including SAP
