As we continue to lead the way in sustainable mining and decarbonisation, we're looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Mine Closure Planner to join our dynamic Closure & Rehabilitation team.
This role is pivotal in integrating closure planning into the full life-of-mine cycle and driving progressive rehabilitation strategies that align with regulatory obligations, environmental stewardship, and Fortescue’s commitment to leaving a positive legacy.

- Integrate closure strategies into life-of-mine planning in close collaboration with Study, Operations, Environment, Heritage, and Communities teams.
- Identify and manage risks by executing trials, studies, and stakeholder engagements that support innovative, science-backed closure solutions.
- Shape the land’s future through planning for sustainable post-mining land uses, community aspirations, and ecosystem restoration.
- Support progressive rehabilitation and closure governance across operational assets.
- Represent Fortescue in interactions with Traditional Owners, regulators, consultants, and local communities.

- Proven experience in mine closure planning, environmental management or rehabilitation, with a minimum of 3 years in iron ore or large-scale mining.
- Expertise in developing MCPs under WA’s Mining Act.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills — from mine planners to Traditional Owners and regulators.
- Ability to manage complex projects and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in GIS, mine planning tools (e.g., Vulcan), and environmental data systems.
- In-depth understanding of WA closure regulations and best-practice guidelines.
