Role overview: We are currently seeking a highly motivated Mine Engineer- Designs to join our Perth based planning team. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer – 2 Year Planning, this role is responsible for carrying out various ranges of design activities to support production at the Christmas Creek Mine
Key Responsibilities
- Support the 2 Year Mine Plan process by providing pit, waste dump, stockpile, and infrastructure designs including Decarb, Roads, ROMs, Drains and Levees covering the 2 year horizon
- Design pits and dumps ensuring a logical and practical sequence that maximises ore recovery while minimises cost in line with or better than 10 Year Plan.
- Ensure designs are compliant with FMG Design Standards
- Collaborate with the 2 Year Planner to ensure spatial compliance to the 2 Year Plan is achieved
- Provide design support and guidance to the Operations Planning team, and operational teams
- Obtain and maintain current Land Usage Certificates (LUC’s) and clearing summaries for all development work
- Liaise with support functions, including Mining, Geology, Drill & Blast, Geotechnical, Decarb, Hydrogeology and Surface Water to understand risk and opportunities to the mine plan and to enable timely achievement of milestones
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or similar
- Proficiency in mine design software (Vulcan - Advantageous)
- Demonstrated experience in open pit design (preferred) and scheduling
- Excellent communication/presentation skills with the ability to convey technical detail, potential risks, and opportunities within the planned works to a variety of stakeholders.
