Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue’s Iron Bridge Mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 4D3X FIFO ex Perth
We are looking for a motivated Mining Engineer to join our Iron Bridge operations as a Design Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new, large and deep pit operation.
This would suit a mining professional who is looking for a diverse, challenging and engaging role. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer 2 Year Planning, you will be involved in engaging and aligning stakeholders across the business, detailed mine designs for medium term horizon (2 – 5 years), project work including data analysis and supporting the 2 Year Planning Scheduler.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and/or review designs for operational execution and scheduling.
- Support and contribute to the 2 Year Mine plan process
- Contribute to design processes, procedures and QAQC systems
- Cost analysis of mine infrastructure plan and design
- Cross-train and full-fill other mine planning functions as required
- Contribute to ongoing site improvement initiatives and projects
- Work collaboratively with Strategic and Operations Planning to produce effective and executable designs
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in a mining industry related discipline or equivalent operational experience
- Previous experience in open pit (preferably Hard Rock) mining
- Exposure to Mine scheduling desirable
- Competent in mine design software such as Vulcan
- Analytical mindset with previous exposure to cost benefit/analysis
- Intermediate level for MS Office products including MS Excel, MS Word, Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps
