Work Location: Solomon. Western Australia. Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R, FIFO ex Perth
** This is a FIXED TERM CONTRACT role for a period of approximately 8 months **
Fortescue operates one of the world’s largest autonomous haulage fleets, powered by sophisticated communications and operational technology systems. As a Mine Systems Co-ordinator, you’ll play a key leadership role ensuring the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of mine communication infrastructure.
This position blends hands-on technical knowledge with leadership responsibilities — overseeing forward maintenance planning, supporting project delivery, and guiding a team of specialists to keep systems running at peak performance. From Tetra radio and wireless networks to fleet management and OT hardware, you’ll be central to ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining operations.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and support a team maintaining mine communications infrastructure, including Tetra radio, FMS wireless networks, and OT hardware

Provide technical planning, troubleshooting, and system support to maximise operational availability

Oversee and coordinate forward maintenance plans, site-initiated projects, and contractor mobilisation

Act as the escalation lead in the Superintendent’s absence, ensuring continuity of operations

Monitor wireless communication performance, analyse failures, and recommend improvements

Ensure compliance with safety standards, risk assessments, and Fortescue work management systems (SAP, notifications, work orders)

Provide quality assurance and feedback on construction methodologies and OT project components

Liaise with mine operators, process control teams, and the HIVE to ensure seamless communication support
Qualifications and Experience

Minimum 5 years’ leadership experience in mining or industrial operations technology

Strong background in wireless communications infrastructure (Cisco Mesh, microwave, fibre optics)

Experience with radio systems, fleet management systems, and RF communication; LTE experience an advantage

Cert IV in Communications or Electrical Trade (minimum); STEM degree highly regarded

C Class manual driver’s licence essential; Working at Heights/EWP certification desirable

Experience with Minestar Fleet Management and Tetra Digital Radio systems highly regarded

Proficiency in fault finding, hardware repair, and reading technical drawings and schematics

Strong communication, coaching, and leadership skills with a focus on safety, teamwork, and performance
