Mining Engineer - Drill and Blast
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue's Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikura (PKKP) peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex. Perth
We are currently seeking a Mining Engineer – Drill and Blast to join our operations reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer – Drill and Blast. You will be responsible for providing Drill and Blast Engineering and Mine Planning expertise that enables Eliwana to consistently deliver quality broken material to meet site goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Weekly Planning Team providing inputs for the Drill and Blast schedule.
- Provide technical Drill and Blast Engineering services including but not limited to: Drill Pattern Design, Charging Design, Explosive Product Selection, and Blast Initiation Timing Design.
- Utilize data generated from drill and blast monitoring systems to evaluate blast performance against site goals and, as required, modify drill and blast design parameters.
- Develop and implement plans, projects, and designs aligned with site goals.
- Manage and implement Blast Vibration Monitoring programmes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
- 2+ years' Mining and Drill and Blast Engineering experience post graduate program; Open Pit preferred.
- Able to effectively interpret mine design standards, procedures, and physicals.
- Demonstrated use of Drill and Blast Design software; where proficiency Mapteks Vulcan and Blast Logic is highly desirable.
- Exposure to additional Mine Design Software, where proficiency in APS, and Haul Infinity is considered highly desirable.
- Experience in Blast Vibration Monitoring and Assessment is highly desirable
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite
