Our Opportunity

Work Location: Eliwana - Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.

 

Roster: 7D/7N/14R FIFO ex Perth

 

We are currently seeking an experienced Excavator Operator with demonstrated leadership skills to join our team on a 2/2 roster. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated operational experience, positive culture, diverse skillsets, thinking, and a passion for the mining industry

Reporting directly to the Mining Supervisor, as an Excavator/Mining Leading Hand you will play a vital role in assisting with mining activities, ensuring safety, positive culture, productivity, and efficiency targets are met

This role offers a great opportunity for an individual who is seeking to transition into a supervisory role with a passion for leadership and team development in a supportive environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in leading and coordinating a small team of operators to achieve daily operational targets.
  • Operate mobile equipment (listed below) at maximum efficiency while ensuring safety, environmental, and heritage standards are maintained.
  • Maintain assets to operational capacity.
  • Continuously improve process efficiency.
  • Demonstrate behaviour that aligns with Fortescue values.
  • Comply with Zero Harm principles on a daily basis.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Ability to skilfully operate some or all of the equipment listed: Liebherr 9400, CAT 6060, CAT6040, D10T/D11T Dozer, 854 Wheel Dozer, 18/24M Grader, 993/994/WA1200 Wheel Loader
  • Proven experience in mobile equipment operation within the mining industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret mine plans.
  • Knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection and OHS Act.
  • WA Class HR Driver's License.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and coordinate a team.
  • Demonstrated strong desire and passion to be a leader in a dynamic and challenging mining environment.
  • Previous experience in a leading hand or supervisory role (desirable).
  • A Schedule 26 certificate would be highly desirable but not essential
