Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Solomon - Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples. 

 

Roster: 7D7N7R FIFO ex Perth, Busselton or Karratha 

 

Fortescue is seeking experienced All Rounder Ancillary and Excavator operators who have operated some or all of the following equipment in a mining environment:

 

•         D10T and Liebherr PR776 Dozers

•         854 Wheel Dozer

•         18/24M Grader

•         993/994/1200 Wheel Loader

•         Liebherr 996, 9400, 9400e, 9250 Cat 6040 Excavators

 

As a Mining Operator, you will be directly involved in the day-to-day operations of our iron ore mine. You will be responsible for operating mobile equipment at maximum efficiency, contributing to the safe and efficient production of iron ore. You will work closely with your team and under the guidance of supervisory staff to meet production targets and uphold the highest standards of workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

 

 

  • Operate heavy machinery and equipment, including haul trucks, loaders, dozers, and excavators, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct pre-start checks and routine inspections of machinery and equipment to ensure operational readiness and safety.
  • Identify and report any safety hazards, equipment faults, or wear and tear to maintenance and supervisory staff.
  • Comply with all safety guidelines, procedures, and workplace instructions.
  • Participate in safety briefings, meetings, and training sessions.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve production targets and operational objectives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety and efficiency.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Ability to skilfully operate some or all the equipment above
  • Mobile equipment operation in the mining industry is essential
  • Experience working on contours for drill preparation preferred
  • Ability to read mine plans
  • Knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection and OHS Act Regs
  • WA Class HR Driver's Licence
  • Communication and interpersonal skills - two-way operation
