Mining Systems Specialist

Work Location: Iron Bridge – Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people
Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex Perth
The Mining Systems Specialist supports the effective operation and continuous improvement of Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) mining technology at Iron Bridge.
This role plays a key part in ensuring mining systems perform reliably, system changes are well implemented, and improvement opportunities are identified and delivered in collaboration with site operational teams and OEM partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the investigation and documentation of site issues, incidents, and system changes, ensuring timely resolution and communication with relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in developing, analysing, and implementing improvement initiatives and minor CAPEX projects to enhance mining systems performance and reliability.
- Contribute to maintaining adherence to the Mining Systems Improvements Framework, engaging collaboratively with operations and technology teams.
- Configure, test, and document mining systems upgrades and modifications to support safe and efficient production operations.
- Provide technical support for AHS, Fleet Management Systems, and other mining technology platforms.
- Collaborate with OEM representatives and internal teams to ensure effective knowledge transfer and ongoing operational capability.
- Support data analysis and reporting to monitor system performance, identify improvement opportunities, and communicate outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree or diploma in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (desirable).
- Certifications in mining or operational technology systems (e.g., Fleet Management or AHS) are advantageous.
- 2–5 years’ experience in mining technology, operations, or related technical support roles.
- Exposure to Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS), Fleet Management Systems (FMS), or other mining technology platforms is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in data-driven operational improvements.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across functional teams.
- Experience managing competing priorities in a dynamic, operational environment.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement principles and project support methodologies.
- Competence in data analysis, reporting, and documentation to support effective system governance and optimisation.
