Operational Specialist - Fixed Plant Control
Our Opportunity
Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: 5D/2R or 4D/3R (your choice)
We’re looking for someone who thrives in the thick of it — not just keeping operations running but driving real change across multiple control room environments.
As an Operational Specialist, you’ll be the go-to for supporting our supervisors and operators, leading high-impact projects, and making sure our control rooms across the West are humming. You’ll bring structure where it’s needed, back up the team where it matters, and push us forward where we can do better. This is a hands-on, people-first, outcomes-focused role.
Key Responsibilities
- Owning the day-to-day: support site supervisors, help manage performance, and make operations flow smoothly.
- Delivering results: lead and land key improvement projects and capital initiatives.
- Uplifting the team: develop practical training tools and coach team members to be their best.
- Driving consistency: help align processes and systems across sites, so we move together.
- Solving problems fast: jump in when things get stuck and find smarter ways to work.
- Building culture: be part of a team that’s proud of what it delivers, every shift.
Qualifications and Experience
- Solid experience running or supporting control room operations (multi-site is a bonus).
- A background in project delivery, continuous improvement, or operational leadership.
- A natural ability to connect with people — from supervisors to site techs to head office teams.
- Sharp thinking and a bias for action — you don’t sit on problems, you solve them.
- A focus on safety, performance, and bringing others along for the ride.
