The Specialised System Administrator for Oracle Primavera P6 is responsible for the technical and functional administration of Fortescue’s enterprise planning and scheduling environment. This includes the management, optimisation, and integration of Oracle Primavera P6 EPPM, ensuring system reliability, data integrity, and alignment with Fortescue’s project governance framework.
The role supports the company’s major project delivery portfolio across mining, energy, and green hydrogen by enabling robust project scheduling, forecasting, and reporting capabilities.
Candidates must be able to bring a flexible mindset, challenge traditional thinking, and be prepared to work outside of their comfort zone.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain Fortescue’s Primavera P6 EPPM, Professional, and associated Oracle/SQL Server databases
- Manage user access, roles, and security profiles in line with Fortescue’s IT security and governance requirements
- Monitor system health, performance, integrations, and environments to ensure stability, availability, and optimal performance
- Coordinate and deliver system patches, upgrades, environment refreshes, and vendor-supported maintenance with IT Infrastructure and Oracle Support
- Support and maintain integrations between P6, Power BI, and internal data warehouses, troubleshooting data inconsistencies and API issues
- Develop and maintain enterprise-level structures including calendars, coding frameworks, EPS/WBS/OBS templates, and resource libraries
- Provide technical support to planning and scheduling users across corporate and project locations, resolving application, data, and performance issues
- Lead testing, validation, and change management for P6 updates, integrations, and enhancements
- Enforce Fortescue’s Project Controls and Planning Standards while ensuring compliance with data security, audit, and change control procedures
- Maintain clear system documentation and collaborate with Project Controls and Digital teams to align the P6 platform with Fortescue’s strategic project delivery roadmap.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or Project Management
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Primavera P6 EPPM administration within a large, multi-project environment
- Strong technical understanding of Oracle or SQL Server database architecture
- Proven experience supporting enterprise-wide P6 integrations (BI tools, Data Warehousing Applications, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to manage environments across development, test, and production environments
- Familiarity with cloud and on-premise environments
- Oracle Primavera Certification (Implementation Specialist / System Administrator)
- Experience with BI Publisher, or Power BI report development
- Working knowledge of Fortescue’s enterprise technology stack (Snowflake, Azure, etc.)
- Exposure to project controls frameworks within the mining, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
