Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

 

Roster: 8D6R – FIFO ex Perth or DIDO ex Port Hedland

 

The role of the Pipeline Engineer is to provide technical support using initiatives and applying engineering techniques, data analysis, improvement projects and defect elimination for Iron Bridge’s extensive pipeline network of approximately 490 km of water and slurry pipelines.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Iron Bridge KPI’s: Support the Iron Bridge KPI’s including compliance to mine plan, annual production targets, available hours, diversity and TRIFR.
  • Continuous Improvement and Technical Support: Integrate with all relevant departments and teams to understand and be passionate about the pipeline system and its continuous improvement and provide teams with the technical support needed for them to succeed.
  • Initiatives and Projects: Develop and execute operational and capital projects and initiatives.
  • Defect Elimination: Be a champion and leader of the Defect Elimination Process for the pipelines including intimately understanding day to day issues with the system and applying defect elimination processes to achieve improvements in the pipeline systems.
  • Fortescue Processes and Standards: Be a champion of Fortescue standards including but not limited to safety, engineering and design, environment, excavation and Land Use Certificates, Cultural Heritage, BMS management and SAP Management.
  • Pipeline Risk: Be an effective member of the Iron Bridge team to manage critical controls for pipeline risks.
  • Fortescue Values and High Performing Teams: Apply Fortescue values and high performing teams’ culture.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Minimum 5+ years relevant experience with majority of time working with long distance pipeline systems for water and slurry (operations and maintenance involvement with knowledge of pipeline, piping systems and concepts). 
  • Project management skills including planning, organisational, budgeting, scheduling and stakeholder management.
  • Strong knowledge with:
    • Practical experience of integrity management, reliability as well as operations and maintenance concepts;
    • Computer management systems such as document management systems, SAP, GIS - capable of performing basic SAP transaction applicable to role;
    • Sacrificial and impressed current cathodic protection systems; and
    • Pumping systems and pipeline hydraulics - capable of performing preliminary hydraulic analyses and capable of optimising pump operation.
  • Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Capable of building business cases and assessing options from a business and risk perspective.
