Our Opportunity

Location: Eliwana/Flying Fish, Pilbara region, Western Australia (90 km west of Tom Price), on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.

Roster: 8/6 FIFO 

 

As a Planner/Scheduler at Fortescue, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating operational activities across multiple departments to ensure maximum efficiency and on-time project delivery. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and manage work plans, schedules, and resources to support the maintenance and production operations at our mine sites and processing plants.

This role is critical to ensuring that our operations run smoothly and safely, optimizing resource utilization, and minimizing downtime. Your ability to balance multiple priorities, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and anticipate and mitigate risks will contribute to the continued success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed schedules for maintenance, production, and operational activities, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and on time.
  • Coordinate with operational teams, project managers, and other departments to align schedules with business priorities and ensure the effective use of resources.
  • Monitor the progress of work against schedules, identifying any delays or issues and proactively developing solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Use planning tools (e.g., Primavera, SAP, or similar) to manage and track the status of work orders, maintenance tasks, and production timelines.
  • Assist in the identification and management of risks and opportunities within schedules to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
  • Provide regular progress reports, schedule updates, and key performance metrics to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Support the development of long-term maintenance and operational plans to ensure sustainable production goals.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in the execution of scheduled activities.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to optimize scheduling and planning activities across the organization.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in maintenance planning and scheduling in mining or heavy industry operations is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in planning and scheduling, preferably in the mining, resources, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong proficiency with scheduling software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project, SAP, etc.).
  • Proven ability to manage complex schedules and multi-disciplinary projects, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Experience in maintenance planning and scheduling in mining or heavy industry operations is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental practices in a mining or industrial setting
