Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Play a crucial role in providing leadership and direction to team members across our Technology category. The Principal Category Management will build strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure alignment with overall business goals.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Leading the execution to deliver enhanced commercial outcomes and innovative solutions.
  • Guides, direct, and mentors team members in contract management duties.  
  • Supplier relationship management (SRM) - deliver value through effective management of strategic supplier relationships at a senior or Executive level. Actively articulates and demonstrates the value of SRM in the business.
  • Category management and strategic sourcing – provide oversight to team members about the development of category strategies and effectively managing the end-to-end sourcing process.
  • Negotiating – lead the development of negotiation strategies for complex, high risk and high value contracts, which drive value for Fortescue and our supplier partners.
  • Ensure business objectives are met through effective governance, compliance management and the identification, assessment, and treatment of risk.
  • Effective analysis and reporting of relevant data at all stages of the procurement lifecycle.
  • Create and maintain credible and trusting relationships with internal stakeholders at a senior management level.
  • Demonstrates intimate knowledge of how Fortescue’s assets operate and their needs, opportunities, and limitations. Is highly capable of creating commercial strategy and solutions fully optimised given this knowledge.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Significant, demonstratable experience in leading teams in category management, ideally within a global organisation 
  • Technology related post graduate or undergraduate studies in Information Technology, Management, Systems or related discipline such as AI is desirable
  • Have a deep understanding of the different subcategories, contracts and major vendors that comprise the Technology Category including but not limited to enterprise and business software applications, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, telecommunications, infrastructure, cloud and operational technologies.
  • Have a broad understanding and willingness to stay abreast of the latest technological advancements and developments related to technology due to the fast changing nature of this industry.
  • A degree or post graduate studies in law, MCIPS or other applicable qualification in the procurement or legal industry is desirable
