Our Opportunity

Work Location:  Fortescue’s Perth CBD office with regular site visits to the Pilbara.

 

Roster: Monday to Friday (flexible hours, with childcare creche available)

Joining Fortescue as Principal Mechanical Engineer for our Asset & Materials Management department and reporting to the Manager Fixed Plant & Engineering, you will provide a core supporting role across our fixed plant processing facilities, port, rail, dewatering, and various mine and non-process infrastructure services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor and support Fortescue’s engineering and technical teams. Continuously building on capability and skills to improve efficiency, quality, and optimise delivery output.
  • Grow and maintain positive relationships with site engineering, and operations/maintenance leadership to ensure alignment of priorities and activities.
  • Provide mechanical and piping technical support to our operational and project teams, including scoping, design review, and quality assurance.
  • Develop and optimise Fortescue’s asset management process and framework, including asset integrity and asset lifecycle management.
  • Lead and oversee Fortescue’s engineering standards and technical documentation.
  • Support with capital project independent and technical reviews.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar.
  • Experience in the mining or heavy industry sector is highly regarded, though not essential.
  • Demonstrated capacity to form positive connections and lead a team of engineers.
  • Passion and experience surrounding design, project delivery, operations and/or maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian and Industry Standards, WHS Legislation, and Industry Best Practice.
  • Friendly, approachable disposition with contractor engagement and management.
