Principal Green Systems Readiness
Our Opportunity
Work location: Perth – Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people
Roster: Monday to Friday
The Decarbonisation team is responsible for finding and implementing commercially and technically viable zero-emission solutions for Fortescue’s business units (including Metals, Energy, and Fortescue Zero). The team’s immediate objective is to successfully deliver Real Zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions in our Australian iron ore operations by 2030. This means the complete elimination of gas and diesel from our sites. The Decarbonisation team consists of a mix of core central roles complimented by a matrix organisation of dedicated personnel across functions and operations within the business to ensure joint ownership of the design, delivery and operation of decarbonised solutions.
We are seeking a highly focused and results-driven Green Systems Organisational/Operational Readiness Principal to oversee the deployment and integration of digital technologies necessary for our decarbonisation strategy (Green Systems). This role will be pivotal in transitioning Fortescue’s long, medium, and short-term planning processes to be “energy aware”, reflecting energy requirements and variable availability, and in implementing control systems for energy delivery within the constraints of our power infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in operationalising business systems and technologies with Planning and operational business partners to fixed timeframes.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the organisational and operational readiness efforts to support the development, deployment and adoption of fit-for-purpose new or modified planning systems and control systems that enable Fortescue’s decarbonisation objectives.
- Oversee the synchronisation of planning processes with energy control systems to support decarbonised operations.
- Manage the deployment and integration of new control systems necessary for safe and effective operation of new green assets in Green Power and Green Mobility, particularly those that optimise power and energy delivery within the constraints of available generation and infrastructure capacity.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of integrated processes and identify and implement process improvements to integrate zero-emission technologies and practices into existing operations.
- Lead and manage the operational and organisational readiness for delivery of the Green Systems projects with a focus on achieving outcomes within tight timeframes.
- Provide regular updates and progress reports to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key achievements and areas for improvement.
- Facilitate communication and training efforts to build organisational support and readiness for green systems integration.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree related to business systems, project management, engineering or a similar field.
- Excellent project management skills, with a track record of driving outcomes within tight timeframes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen focus on achieving results and overcoming challenges.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Track record of implementing business strategy in an integrated complex supply chain.
