Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
You will be on a 5:2 roster primarily based in Perth with ability to spend portion (<= 25%) of your time on site.
We are seeking an experienced and driven Principal Health & Safety (Contractor Management) to join Fortescue’s Group Health, Safety, and Risk team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Fortescue Contractor Management Framework, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards across our diverse operations in both metals and energy.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external contractor partners to provide coaching, oversight, and assurance that health and safety management systems are being effectively applied and continuously improved.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain the Fortescue Contractor Management Framework in line with HSMS standards and Group procedures.
- Provide coaching and support to both Fortescue employees and contractors to drive compliance with HSES standards.
- Development and management of business systems used by contractor management.
- Deliver a robust second-line assurance program across all operational business units.
- Conduct contractor pre-qualifications assessments and undertake field-based verification during audits.
- Monitor contractor management processes and ensure alignment with relevant health and safety legislation.
- Actively contribute to the broader HSES strategic plan and health and safety objectives across the Fortescue Group.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety (or equivalent) preferred.
- Lead Auditor Qualification in WHS Management Systems.
- Hands-on experience in high-risk industries such as construction, mining, logistics, manufacturing, or processing.
- Deep understanding of the WHS Act, relevant standards, and applicable codes of practice.
- Demonstrated ability in developing, implementing, and auditing health and safety management systems.
- Proven track record of managing contractor HSES performance and delivering against KPIs.
