Our Opportunity
Work Location: Perth, Western Australia. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
The Principal Energy Analyst plays a pivotal leadership role in driving the success of the Energy Operations Reporting & Forecasting team. This high-impact position is at the forefront of developing reports and predictive models that inform key business decisions.
With a strong focus on commercial and financial analysis, the Principal Energy Analyst transforms complex data into actionable insights that empower stakeholders across the organization. As a core member of the Strategic Planning team, they lead the charge in delivering accurate, high-quality reporting and forecasting cycles—ensuring the business stays agile, informed, and future-ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure continuous development of models & reports.
- Support the team to deliver timely and high-quality reports with relevant insights.
- Work with various stakeholders to deliver the quarterly re-forecast process and ensure provided insights are relevant.
- Maintain an understanding of current & prospective PPAs – support negotiations with commercial and contract analysis.
- Develop and maintain commercial and financial models to support ad hoc analysis of projects, PPAs, and other.
- Develop new reports to meet the evolving needs of the Energy Operations department.
- Develop and maintain the mine site cost allocation methodologies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, finance, economics, engineering)
- 5 years of business analyst / consulting experience in a similar role within mining or energy industry. Leadership experience desirable
- Track record of delivering detailed quantitative analysis using advanced Excel capabilities
- Experience with commercial and financial modelling
- Experience with contracts analysis & negotiation support (preferably in the energy industry)
