Roster: Monday to Friday (12-month fixed-term or secondment opportunity)
The Principal Reporting & Forecasting leads the Energy Operations Reporting & Forecasting team, providing critical insights that guide strategic and commercial decisions across Fortescue’s energy portfolio.
This role is responsible for developing and maintaining robust forecasting models, financial and commercial analyses, and high-quality reports that support operational performance and long-term planning. You’ll play a pivotal part in optimising energy costs, supporting Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) negotiations, and enhancing our analytical frameworks to meet the evolving needs of Energy Operations.
As a trusted advisor within the Modelling & Analysis team, you’ll ensure accuracy, efficiency, and innovation in every aspect of reporting and analysis — enabling Fortescue to make data-driven, future-focused energy decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the Reporting & Forecasting team to deliver timely, accurate, and insightful outputs.
- Manage the quarterly re-forecast process, ensuring high-quality financial and operational insights.
- Develop and enhance forecasting, financial, and commercial models to support decision-making and project evaluation.
- Provide analytical support for PPA negotiations, contract assessments, and cost allocation methodologies.
- Continuously improve reporting frameworks and tools to deliver meaningful, actionable insights for stakeholders.
- Oversee monthly energy reporting and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Collaborate across departments to drive consistency, transparency, and strategic value in energy reporting and analysis.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in business analysis, consulting, or financial modelling — ideally within the mining or energy sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced Excel modelling and quantitative analysis.
- Proven experience in commercial and financial modelling, including contract analysis and negotiation support.
- Strong leadership capability with experience guiding analytical teams and fostering continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; Power BI or equivalent visualisation tools highly regarded.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills.
- Highly motivated, proactive, and comfortable working both autonomously and collaboratively in a complex environment.
