Location: Perth Office – 256 St Georges Terrace
Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Mon to Fri
An opportunity exists for a Principal Safety Design to join the decarbonisation project. The decarbonisation team supports Fortescue in achieving its goal of decarbonisation of the Pilbara operations by 2030.
Key Responsibilities
- Engaging and influencing the Decarbonisation Project activities to ensure that the hierarchy of controls and Safety in Design practices are implemented in projects
- Lead the implementation of the health and safety deliverables into Decarbonisation projects as required
- Provide guidance on the methodologies and techniques that can be used for identifying hazards, hazard analysis and management, and assessing safety risk
- Participate in design reviews and other safety related design inputs as the voice of the customer for Decarbonation projects, equipment and processes
- Conducting hazard identification exercises, hazard analysis and hazard log management and gathering safety assurance evidence
- Support the decarbonisation team to identify and document the safety requirements for the projects and operations
- Build the capability of the decarbonisation project teams in understanding safety in design and health and safety deliverables related to decarbonisation projects
- Achieving and maintaining effective communication with the project delivery team, and other internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and manage interfaces with key stakeholders including the Engineering teams, project management, Operations and Health and Safety teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Process Safety, Functional Safety or Product Safety Design experience and background highly recommended
- Strong health and safety qualifications, skills and experience required
- Demonstrated design review experience is required
- The ability to facilitate risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, EHAZOP, FMEA, Fault tree etc) is highly desirable
- Electrical engineering or electrical experience and background highly desirable
- Interest in renewables, decarbonisation activities and electrified equipment.
