Process Control Specialist - Projects

The Process Control Specialist is responsible for providing, senior technical guidance, project execution oversight and subject matter expertise to the Projects Team in relation to Process Control Systems (PCS) across Fortescue’s Chichester Hub. Working closely with the Projects team, this role supports operations, maintenance and shutdown teams to deliver safe, value-driven outcomes aligned with project scope.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior technical guidance on Process Control Systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS) design, commissioning, integration, and maintenance.
- Support Projects team in executing PCS-related work, ensuring alignment with reliability and asset management principles.
- Prepare and manage commissioning plans, FAT/SAT processes, technical queries (TQs), non-conformance (NCR) management, and project close-out documentation (MDR/ITP).
- Collaborate with site teams and Perth-based project/automation teams to deliver safe and value-adding project outcomes.
- Monitor and report on key KPIs, including reliability, Eureka, DEP, and decarbonisation metrics.
- Provide technical support during project planning, risk assessments, and live infrastructure assessments.
- Mentor and develop engineering teams, fostering a positive and inclusive work culture.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience as a Senior PCS Engineer or equivalent.
- Extensive experience with PCS design, commissioning, integration, and maintenance (PLC, SCADA, DCS).
- Strong technical knowledge of industrial control and automation systems, including software development, testing and commissioning.
- Proven project execution experience, including KPI management and reliability improvement.
- Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and SAP.
- Experienced licensed electrician and Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) - preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Process Control Engineering with demonstrated PCS commissioning and maintenance experience - preferred.
- Knowledge of mining legislation and safety regulations (e.g., Mine Safety and Inspection Act, OHS) - preferred.
