Project Engineer - Mechanical
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal People.
Roster: 8d 6R FIFO ex Perth
Reporting to the Iron Bridge Senior Project Engineer, this role will be responsible for supporting Iron Bridge Operations through key project execution, support with contractor engagement & management, communication and being responsible for project budget management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Project Engineer in the delivery of brownfield and sustaining capital projects across site.
- Manage the end-to-end project lifecycle from scoping, design review, procurement, construction, commissioning to close-out.
- Develop and maintain project documentation including scope of work, schedules, cost tracking, and risk registers.
- Monitor and report on project progress through weekly updates, status reports, and KPI dashboards.
- Ensure all works are completed in compliance with Fortescue standards, Australian codes, and statutory requirements.
- Participate in site walkdowns, design validation, and commissioning activities.
- Promote a strong safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all HSE procedures and JHAs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 4+ years fixed plant or heavy industry experience with a minimum of 2 years in a projects role
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or related discipline)
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including piping, pumps, conveyors, chutes, and structural steel.
- High level of written and verbal communication skills with stakeholder engagement experience.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive attitude.
- Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, Mines legislations and regulations
- Knowledge of computer management systems, including SAP and MS Project
