Work Location: Cloudbreak - Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples
Roster: 4D/3R FIFO ex. Perth
Fortescue has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join the Compliance team supporting the Capital Projects team. The role is responsible for providing technical support during all the phases of project lifecycle through initiation to close out, working closely with Reliability, Operations & Maintenance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with Project Teams and follow the Chichester Projects process from Identification, stakeholder engagement, feasibility assessment, business evaluation, front end cost estimation, scoping to close out of improvement projects
- Review of Scope of Work prepared by Project Team to ensure alliance with project scoping /business case
- Focal point for scope change management, technical queries relating to engineering inputs for install ability and constructability issues for on-site execution
- Champion of engineering design compliance with relevant standards including FMG Engineering Standards and Specifications
- ITP & ITR review QA&QC installation to Fortescue standards, actively engaged in punch list and final walk through to gain highest standard for Stakeholders
- Final close out of Project - Red line as built drawings, MDR and OCR review and guidance for Project manager approval. Contribute to project lesson learning and implanting actions in front end of new projects to reduce repeat failures
- Weekly & monthly Geotechnical inspections and reports
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 3-5 years in fixed plant experience in an engineering and/or projects role (iron ore preferable) with strong commitment to safety from design to construction
- Project engineering experience on major mineral processing projects working on materials handling, crushing, screening and wet physical beneficiation process plant
- Knowledge of relevant Mines legislations and regulations, relevant Australian Codes and Standards.
- Working experience within a team environment including liaising with Planners, Shut Execution, Engineering and Operations
- Exposure working in the owner’s team and/or large EPC organizations is highly regarded.
