Project Geologist

Our Opportunity

Work Location:  Solomon.   Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

Roster:  8D/6R - FIFO ex Perth

The Project Geologist plays a key role in supporting the Senior Resource Definition Geologist in delivering critical mining plans. This role involves designing and executing drilling programs to support both short-term (two-year) and long-term (ten-year) mine plans. Additionally, the Project Geologist is responsible for coordinating near-mine exploration activities aimed at identifying new mining opportunities near existing operations. The role also involves providing guidance and daily support to rig geologists to ensure the success of drilling operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage reverse circulation drilling programs to meet project objectives.
• Provide mentorship and technical support to rig geologists.
• Ensure adherence to Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC) standards throughout all drilling operations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in geology.
• Experience in iron ore exploration and mining (highly desirable).
• Proficiency in ArcMap, Leapfrog, and Vulcan software (preferred).
