Our Opportunity

Work Location: Perth – Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

 

The Project Planner will be responsible for providing comprehensive planning, scheduling, and budgeting support for current and future implementation projects. Working closely with Project Leads and the Technology Superintendent, the planner will ensure effective project governance that aligns with Fortescue's standards. This includes maintaining up to date project plans and action registers, promptly escalating any missing information to the Superintendent & Technology Business Analyst.

 

The role requires accurate scheduling based on inputs from action registers and project governance, presented in a clear and accessible format. The planner will liaise with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that budgets, quotes, purchase orders (POs), and purchase requests (PRs) are current and accurately forecasted. Timely submission of POs as requested by Project Leads is essential, along with support for mining systems POs when requested by the Technology Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact for Project Leads, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and effectively communicating governance requirements.
  • Support project planning efforts through effective budgeting and scheduling processes to ensure successful execution of technology and capital projects.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure alignment on project objectives and budgets.
  • Track project progress, identify scheduling conflicts, and escalate issues to the Technology Superintendent for timely resolution.
  • Manage budget-related inquiries and provide accurate forecasts to ensure financial alignment with project goals.
  • Provide guidance on project management tools and methodologies while participating in post-project reviews to enhance planning and execution practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum high school graduate education.
  • Formal courses in planning, project work and use of Microsoft suite of products.
  • Experience using project governance applications.
  • Prior knowledge on budgets and scheduling.
  • Project planning experience.
  • Use and knowledge of Fortescue systems and processes is desirable.
  • Ability to monitor current progress of projects and advise on scheduling conflicts.
  • Good communication skills to effectively communicate and articulate with different levels in the organisation, utilising adaptable levels of terminology appropriate to the audience.
  • Exceptional computer skills and the ability to learn new governance and organisational programs.
  • Understanding of project governance responsibilities for the business.
  • Thorough understanding of DCRM and project capital process.
  • Formal Risk Assessment Process (TBRA).
