An exciting opportunity exists for a QAQC Geologist to join our Resource Definition team. This role will be critical in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and integrity of assay data for Hematite and Magnetite drilling programs. You will oversee the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of QAQC processes across a range of drilling campaigns, enabling confident decision-making and accurate resource estimation.

 

We are seeking someone with a strong eye for detail, experience with QAQC and RC drilling data in iron ore or similar commodities, and the ability to interpret assay data to identify and correct anomalies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyse QAQC performance daily to ensure assay data meets internal quality thresholds.
  • Monitor assay data ingestion by resource definition geologists on site and provide mentoring to the site teams.
  • Identify and investigate data quality issues, escalating and resolving where required.
  • Coordinate with on-site geology teams and drilling contractors to ensure correct sample handling and QAQC sample insertion.
  • Liaise with laboratory service providers to track turnaround times and manage resubmissions.
  • Produce regular QAQC reports and commentary for use in resource estimation and compliance reporting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of assay workflows and assist with onboarding of QAQC automation tools.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Geology, Geoscience, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in QAQC-focused roles within mining, exploration, or assay laboratory environments.
  • Strong understanding of QAQC principles: precision, accuracy, contamination, and bias.
  • Experience with assay data types and iron ore mineralisation styles (hematite and/or magnetite).
  • Familiarity with laboratory processes and common assay techniques (e.g. XRF).
  • High attention to detail with the ability to detect data anomalies and errors.
  • Experience working with geological databases (e.g. acQuire).
  • Experience with Snowflake and PowerBI will be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
