We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Reliability Engineer to join our team supporting the Production Road Train fleet and Support Mobile Equipment (SME). In this key position, you’ll play a crucial role in maximising asset availability, improving performance, and driving cost-effective maintenance strategies across a diverse and high-value equipment portfolio. You’ll collaborate with maintenance teams, planning, and operations teams to identify and resolve reliability issues, implement data-driven improvement initiatives, and ensure our equipment achieves optimal performance across its lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

 

Asset Reliability & Performance

 

  • Lead reliability improvement programs for Production Road Trains, Service Trucks, Water Carts, IT Loaders, Light Vehicles, and associated support equipment.
  • Analyse downtime, failure modes, and performance data to identify systemic issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), defect elimination, and reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) reviews.
  • Develop, review, and continuously improve maintenance strategies, master data, and PM compliance to enhance asset uptime and reduce cost per hour.

 

Maintenance Strategy & Continuous Improvement

 

  • Monitor reliability KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, availability, and maintenance cost trends.
  • Optimise preventive maintenance routines and component change-out strategies in alignment with OEM recommendations and operational experience.
  • Support the planning and scheduling teams through data-driven insights, ensuring accurate forecasting and maintenance readiness.
  • Contribute to shutdown readiness reviews and defect elimination programs.

 

Stakeholder Collaboration

 

  • Work closely with production, maintenance, and planning teams to prioritise reliability projects and align asset strategies with operational objectives.
  • Partner with OEMs, vendors, and engineering teams to manage reliability trials, warranty claims, and technical improvements.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to maintenance personnel to build site capability in reliability-based practices.

 

Data Analytics & Systems Management

 

  • Utilise CMMS and reliability software (e.g., SAP, AMT, PI Vision, Power BI) to monitor asset health, analyse trends, and report performance.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and insights to support management decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate equipment data, master records, and reliability documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Reliability Engineer or similar role in mining, heavy mobile equipment, or industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of mobile equipment systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in RCA, CI and DE process, and predictive maintenance tools.
  • Advanced analytical and reporting skills using reliability and maintenance systems.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

 

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Production Road Trains and autonomy would be highly beneficial, HME, and SME fleets.
  • Experience in SAP, AMT, and Power BI analytics.
  • Six Sigma, CMRP, or equivalent reliability qualification.
  • Exposure to autonomous or semi-autonomous fleet systems.
