Our Opportunity

Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people

 Roster: ​8D/6R FIFO ex Perth (Thurs-Thurs, B crew)

 

Join Fortescue as a Resource Definition Geologist and play a key role in delivering safe, efficient drilling programmes aligned to the LOM schedule. You’ll take day-to-day ownership of an RC drill rig, ensuring high-quality data collection and analysis to support accurate resource models, while collaborating closely with geologists across site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible leadership and role-model safety behaviours.
  • Daily supervision of an RC drill rig, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
  • Manage assay and geological datasets, including internal QA/QC, validation and database integrity.
  • Complete high-quality stratigraphy, downhole gamma and texture logging of RC chips.
  • Maintain sampling quality at the rig; diagnose and resolve issues promptly.
  • Rationalise and progress near-mine exploration targets.
  • Prepare concise field notes and contribute to short-interval planning updates.
  • Share expertise to drive innovation and continuous improvement within the team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary degree in Geoscience (or equivalent).
  • Exposure to ArcGIS, Leapfrog and Vulcan.
  • Experience with geological database systems (Coreplan, acQuire, Anvil).
  • Knowledge of Pilbara geology and mineralisation styles.
  • Understanding of iron ore mineralogy and textures.
  • Solid foundation in chip logging requirements (logging standards, QA/QC, downhole geophysics).
  • Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a large team; excellent communication skills.
  • Full C-class manual driver’s licence; competent in operating and maintaining a 4WD.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
