As a key member of the Global Project Services and Controls team, you are primarily responsible for the provision of Risk Management and Leadership:

  • to proactively support and inform decision making, coaching and facilitation of project teams’ development and implementation of the (Group and Project) Risk Management framework
  • ensure business and project integration meets project development deliverables and the risk management process, across the project phases and gating requirements
  • accountable for the assurance of all reporting (project and monthly) and for maintaining the required compliance across the Compliance Governance and Risk (CGR) platform.

 

This role is the key point of contact on risk and assurance for project teams throughout the project life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, champion and provide guidance on the Project Risk Management Standard amongst Project team.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Project Risk Management Standard in accordance with Project and Corporate requirements.
  • Work with a portfolio of projects, project teams and risk champions to ensure risk registers capture key study/execution risks and corresponding controls and treatment actions.
  • Ensure regular scheduled risk review activities to proactively meet the Project’s deliverables to support project phase, gate and governance requirements, and promote project team ownership and accountability for risk.
  • Ensure regular scheduled risk activities reviews to proactively meet Project’s risk reporting deliverables and ensure risks/ risk summaries are represented at relevant meetings.
  • Monitor and report to Projects and other stakeholders on the health and status of the Risk Management process as indicated by CGR by risk and action owners, including participate in Project Development Leadership meetings as and when required.
  • Proactively support the project portfolio so that material risks are identified, escalated and addressed early.
  • Provide assurance and executive summaries as per regular reporting requirements.
  • Participate in supporting risk analysis for decision making, including Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis (CSRA) and quality risk analysis, as required and relevant.
  • Provide support to enable the CGR platform being maintained, compliant and accurate to support reporting requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree qualification or equivalent risk management exposure in a project discipline. Risk related certifications would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated prior experience in a similar role preferably in the resources and renewable energy.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience of supporting large capital projects in project risk roles, preferably in the resources and renewable energy sector and involved in complex construction and engineering delivery.  
  • Able to adapt to multidisciplinary requirements, communicate with various stakeholders across an international business operating continuously in all time zones. 
  • Strong commercial, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, gained through successful project delivery.  
  • Demonstrated high level of knowledge and practical experience regarding successfully delivering strategic risk.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing high levels of assurance and governance. 
  • Must enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, collaborating with other like-minded team members and adjacent projects.
  • Risk quantification and modelling experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong team skills and willingness to travel for short and long periods.
