Our Opportunity

 

Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

 

Roster: Monday to Friday – 12 Month Fixed Term

 

Support category and site stakeholders to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives across both operational and capital expenditures. This role focuses on improving supplier cost performance through effective contract management and driving efficiencies during a 12-month pilot program. Key responsibilities include delivering on cost performance targets, tracking savings, and ensuring sustainable improvements across sites.

Additionally, personal dedication, proficiency, reliability, and a pragmatic approach are vital facets of this position.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Improve on-site supplier cost performance to deliver operational and capital cost reductions;
  •  Identify & execute contract and sourcing improvement initiatives to improve cost performance at site;
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement among onsite partners by offering guidance, coaching, and assurance in the management of contractor cost performance;
  • Support category and site stakeholders with onsite contract implementation and sourcing strategies via preferred suppliers to reduce tail spend;
  • Embed invoice auditing and invoice verification frameworks and tools, to ensure invoice accuracy and adherence to contractual terms to enhance cost performance;
  •  Assess spending on onsite services to create and maintain a pipeline of spend/Contract Health Check reviews activities; 
  •  Record cost savings, opportunities, cost avoidance, and other pertinent data and reporting items for presentation to senior leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in mining operations or relevant fields (mobilization, compliance, logistics).
  • Proficient in large ERP systems, particularly SAP, with a strong understanding of Purchasing & Accounts Payable processes.
  • Expertise in contract processes and the purchase-to-pay cycle.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions in high-pressure environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and contractor management platforms (e.g., SAP, Avetta, Ivalua).
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and manage contractor relationships at all levels.
  • Experience in monitoring and reporting on contractor cost performance data.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Procurement, Contract Management, or Logistics preferred.
