Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Senior Cost Controller requires knowledge and experience across cost control, project controls, commercial and construction activities.

 

The role is responsible for the implementation of the cost management system and processes, development of cost control capabilities and the provision of budget, invoice and cost forecasting services and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement cost management systems, processes, and procedures for consistent project cost control, budget tracking, and forecasting.
  • Manage project cost and progress reporting, ensuring timely and accurate reports to the project management team.
  • Support and develop cost controllers and junior cost controllers within the team.
  • Oversee key cost functions, including Value of Work Done (VOWD), cost control activities, and Management of Change.
  • Lead monthly reporting and variance analysis, providing insight into project performance using earned value management (EVM) tools.
  • Review and verify invoices, accruals, and budget forecasts, ensuring compliance with project controls.
  • Facilitate and manage monthly cost forecast reviews with project managers and directors.
  • Support project close-out activities and quarterly capital planning processes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Commerce, or Finance.
  • Project management certification or accredited project controls certification.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in project control, preferably on large-scale capital projects.
  • Experience in the resources or renewable energy sector, including complex engineering and construction environments.
  • Strong knowledge of project cost control systems, finance systems, and reporting applications.
  • Proficiency in project cost control methodologies, cash flow forecasting, and progress reporting.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and MS Office packages.
  • Experience with Omega PIMS cost system (desirable).
