Fortescue is transforming its business using AI and data to automate, optimise, and decarbonise operations across mining and energy. The Data and AI Platform team builds and maintains the technical foundations that enable scalable, secure, and high-impact AI delivery.
The AI Platform team is responsible for architecting and engineering reusable AI components, orchestration frameworks, and cloud-based infrastructure that support data scientists, engineers, and digital product teams across the business. Our work enables consistent, trusted, and efficient development of GenAI agents, MLOps workflows, and enterprise-grade AI applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and maintain scalable, secure data pipelines and storage solutions
- Curate high-quality, accessible data products for analysts, data scientists and business users
- Build tools to streamline data access, transformation and interpretation
- Optimise workflows as workloads move from development to production
- Embed data governance, automation and metadata management practices
- Drive continuous improvement via code reuse, DevOps/DataOps, and documentation
- Mentor and support team members
Qualifications and Experience
- Significant years of experience in Data Engineering with proven experience across cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Deep knowledge of SQL, data modelling, data warehousing and ETL
- Strong experience working with Snowflake, Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python and JavaScript
- Understanding of Visualisation Best Practices and semantic-layer-based tools
- Exposure to DevOps/DataOps, CI/CD tools, Git, and infrastructure-as-code approaches
- Background in mining/resources is desirable
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
