We are offering an exciting opportunity to become an integral part of Fortescue’s Energy Operations division, which oversees the generation and distribution of one of the largest private energy networks globally. As Fortescue drives towards achieving Real Zero by 2030, this role places you at the forefront of a transformational journey incorporating renewable energy solutions, such as expanded solar, wind, and energy storage systems. The primary role of the Senior Electrical Reliability Engineer for Energy Operations is the operational support of breakdowns, identification, analysis and rectification of electrical reliability issues, the delivery of medium-sized electrical projects, and the investigation of failures.

 

You’ll gain exposure to LM6000 and Titan 130 gas turbines, Bergen gas reciprocating engines, high-voltage substations up to 220 kV, and 100 MW+ solar arrays. This is an opportunity to work with world-class equipment, help decarbonise a major industrial network, and shape the engineering standards for Fortescue’s future energy system.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Assist operational teams with the troubleshooting and problem solving on day-to-day issues.
  • Apply RCM and FMEA methodologies to identify and eliminate recurring failure modes.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to improve the reliability of electrical systems and components.
  • Analyse equipment performance data to identify trends and opportunities for enhancement.
  • Assist operational and planning teams with the execution of the maintenance strategies.
  • Develop and optimise asset management strategies for electrical systems.
  • Contribute to the development of long-term asset lifecycle plans.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 6+ years’ experience in an operational engineering, reliability, or maintenance roles.
  • Previous power station or transmission system experience is preferable.
