Title: Senior Land Use & Compliance Advisor
Work Location: Perth – Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people
Roster: Monday to Friday
The Senior Land Use and Compliance Advisor will play a critical role in assuring the successful planning and delivery of projects. This role supports projects by developing and implementing compliance processes aligned with project and compliance objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive robust compliance processes to ensure obligation identification, risk assessment, controls implementation, monitoring and reporting
- Identify potential compliance risks within projects and work with relevant teams to develop mitigation strategies to ensure projects meet all legal and regulatory obligations
- Ensure effective information management for Project obligations and commitments, maintaining project obligations registers and ensuring accurate compliance information and records
- Conduct and coordinate pre-construction, pre-commissioning, and pre-operations readiness reviews, verifying compliance requirements are met before project commencement
- Develop and implement compliance activity plans for Projects
- Develop tools and templates for, and conduct, regular compliance verifications, audits, and inspections
- Prepare and deliver detailed compliance reports to the business, highlighting risks, compliance status, and advice on corrective actions
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including project managers, legal teams, and regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance issues are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, law, environment or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in compliance audit, regulatory affairs, risk and/or project management within the construction, mining, or energy sector
- Proficiency in enterprise compliance management systems
- Use of Geospatial Information Systems including Esri ArcGIS
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and standards in project-driven industries
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
