Work Location:Fortescue Centre, 256 St Georges Terrace, Perth, Western Australia. Located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people. 


This is a Perth-based position. Candidates from interstate or overseas are welcome to apply but must be willing to relocate to Perth for the role.

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative maintenance leader to guide this transformation. As Senior Manager AI Domain Lead -  Maintenance, you will:

  • Lead and deliver the AI strategy for shutdowns and mobile asset maintenance.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team across product, engineering, and analytics.
  • Partner with operational leaders to solve real world fixed and mobile asset maintenance challenges through AI-enabled solutions.

This is a highly visible, business critical role where your domain expertise and leadership will be at the heart of Fortescue’s next wave of innovation.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and deliver a product roadmap of AI solutions for maintenance, including shutdown optimisation, condition-based maintenance, and intelligent planning.
  • Partner with maintenance, planning, and reliability leaders to ensure products drive measurable performance improvements.
  • Translate operational challenges into practical product strategies, leveraging AI and data driven decision making.
  • Drive adoption of AI enabled workflows, including change management, user training, and business process redesign.
  • Ensure products are scalable, integrated with core systems (e.g., SAP), and supported by quality data.
  • Track impact through clear OKRs and ROI measures, adjusting priorities based on business needs.
  • Collaborate with other domain leads to align strategies and share best practice.
  • Hire, mentor, and lead a high performing AI-focused team.

About You

Essential Experience

  • Significant leadership experience in mining or heavy industry maintenance and shutdowns.
  • Credibility and trust with operational teams, with a clear understanding of what “good” looks like in shutdown execution.
  • Proven ability to lead transformation and deliver tangible business results.
  • Experience with maintenance systems (especially SAP), master data, and shutdown planning tools.

 

Valuable skills or knowledge

  • Background in product development, digital transformation, or STEM.
  • Familiarity with AI, advanced analytics, or digital solutions (e.g., machine learning, autonomous workflows).
  • Experience leading cross functional teams in embedding technology into operations.
  • Knowledge of modern product delivery practices (Agile, OKRs, design thinking, DevOps).
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, maintenance management, or related fields.
