Our Opportunity

Work Location:  Perth, Western Australia.  Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster:  Monday to Friday

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced ServiceNow Senior Developer to join our team. This role is focused on hands-on development and administration of the ServiceNow platform, with a strong emphasis on technical excellence, platform optimisation, and solution delivery. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in ServiceNow development and configuration, and a passion for building scalable, maintainable solutions that meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Development & Configuration:

• Design, develop, and implement ServiceNow solutions including custom applications, workflows, business rules, UI policies, and client/server scripts.
• Configure and maintain core modules such as Incident, Problem, Change, Request, CMDB, Employee Centre and Knowledge Management.
• Ensure solutions are aligned with ServiceNow best practices and meet performance and security standards.

Integration & Automation:

• Develop and maintain integrations between ServiceNow and other enterprise systems using REST/SOAP APIs, MID Servers, and Integration Hub.
• Automate processes and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

Technical Problem Solving:

• Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues, bugs, and performance bottlenecks.
• Provide technical support and guidance to other developers and platform users.

Quality Assurance & Documentation:

• Conduct unit testing and support UAT efforts to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation for developed solutions.

Continuous Improvement:

• Stay current with ServiceNow platform updates, new features, and industry trends.
• Proactively identify opportunities to enhance platform functionality and user experience.

Qualifications and Experience

Technical Expertise:

• Extensive hands-on experience with ServiceNow development and administration.
• Strong understanding of ServiceNow architecture, data model, and scripting (JavaScript, Glide APIs).
• Experience with Service Portal, Flow Designer, and Performance Analytics is highly desirable.

Integration Skills:

• Proficiency in integrating ServiceNow with external systems using APIs and web services.
• Familiarity with authentication protocols (OAuth, SAML) and data exchange formats (JSON, XML).

Analytical & Problem-Solving:

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical deliverables.

Collaboration:

• Comfortable working in agile teams and collaborating with business analysts, testers, and other developers.
• Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Certifications (Preferred):

• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator
• ServiceNow Certified Application Developer
• Additional ServiceNow certifications (e.g., ITSM, HRSD, SPM, Now Assist) are a plus
