Work Location:  Solomon MIne Site.  Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

 

Roster:  8D/6R FIFO ex Perth.

 

Are you passionate about ensuring seamless communications in a dynamic mining environment?

 

As a Communications Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing Fortescue’s Operational Technology network and RF communications infrastructure to support our mining team. If you have a strong background in wireless networking, radio communications, and system integrity, we want to hear from you!

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize the Fortescue Operational Network and RF communications infrastructure across the site.
  • Design and optimize wireless communication networks, ensuring site capacity and coverage through strategic site selection, channel allocation, and performance monitoring.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot radio microwave communication networks to ensure network integrity and strong link presence.
  • Manage and configure Tetra network architecture and user terminals, ensuring seamless two-way radio communication.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and fault-finding on all network and communications systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Provide technical advice and support to internal teams, vendors, and contractors while actively seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • 5+ years’ experience in an electronics/communications role, preferably in mining or FIFO operations.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco wireless networks, Fleet Management Systems, and MineStar Autonomous Haul Systems.
  • Knowledge of Tetra digital two-way radio systems and Cambium radio networks (highly desirable).
  • Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and hardware maintenance skills, including cable termination and schematic reading.
  • Certifications: Cert IV in Communications, Open Cabling License (Coax, Structured & Fibre), Apply First Aid, CPR, LV Rescue.
  • Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform certification, and HRWL: DG & RB (desirable).
  • Actively promote a safe working environment
