Our Opportunity
Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue's Iron Bridge mine is located on the traditional lands of Nyamal people.
Roster: 8 days on and 6 days off- FIFO ex Perth
Join Fortescue’s Iron Bridge Operations and play a key role in keeping our mine communications systems running seamlessly. We’re looking for a skilled Communications Systems Specialist to support our mining teams by maintaining and optimising our operational technology networks across site.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimise Fortescue’s operational networks and RF communications infrastructure.
- Monitor and troubleshoot wireless, radio microwave, and Tetra communication networks to ensure system integrity and coverage across mining areas.
- Conduct inspections, relocations, and hands-on maintenance of communications trailers, towers, and hardware.
- Provide technical support to mining teams, contractors, and vendors.
- Capture meaningful data in SAP, raise notifications, and complete work orders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects and provide on-call support for critical systems.
Qualifications and Experience
You’re a communications all-rounder with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach. You’ll bring:
- 5+ years’ experience in an electronics/communications role.
- Exposure to Cisco wireless networks, fleet management systems, and Tetra digital two-way radios.
- Experience fault-finding on systems/networks and repairing hardware.
- Strong computer literacy and the ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
- FIFO or mine site experience (well regarded).
- Relevant trade qualifications — Cert IV in Communications (minimum), cabling licence (coax, structured & fibre), and a manual driver’s licence.
Bonus points if you have: Cambium radio experience, MineStar Autonomous Haul Systems knowledge, Working at Heights/EWP certification, or HRWL tickets (DG & RB).
