Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

 

Roster: Monday to Friday

 

The Social Media Content Specialist will be responsible for executing Fortescue's Global Social Media Strategy. Reporting to the Principal, Social Strategy, this role will help develop and expand the global strategy, with a focus on both APAC and international markets.

 

Key responsibilities include creating brand-aligned, 'social-first' content, managing a global social media calendar, supporting major event activations, monitoring trends, and engaging with the online community to enhance Fortescue’s brand presence.

 

We’re looking for an agile, creative, and proactive individual who understands the importance of social media in the broader marketing strategy, stays up to date with industry trends, and is passionate about building online communities while adapting to change.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and manage a dynamic content calendar aligning with global initiatives and industry events.
  • Create compelling, story-driven content tailored for social media platforms, aligned with brand strategies.
  • Write engaging and on-brand copy for social media, maintaining consistent tone and attention to detail.
  • Lead engagement efforts, respond to audiences with pre-approved messaging, and manage online communities.
  • Collaborate with media and communications teams, providing advocacy support for key internal stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with current trends and identify opportunities for brand integration and interaction.
  • Monitor social media performance, providing detailed reports and insights to refine strategies.
  • Support the ongoing development and refinement of social media strategies to ensure effectiveness and innovation.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • 3-5 years of experience in social media management, marketing, or digital communications.
  • Agency or in-house background, preferably within the energy, mining, or sustainability sectors.
  • Proficiency in managing major platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) with platform-specific strategies.
  • Ability to conceptualize design briefs and collaborate on visual elements for social media.
  • Strong content writing skills for engaging digital communication across platforms.
  • Expertise in using social media management tools, with knowledge of Sprinklr and Brandwatch preferred.
  • Ability to analyze social media analytics and conduct market/trend research to derive actionable insights.
  • Understanding of ASX listed organization requirements and experience with short video content creation (Adobe Premiere Pro is a plus).
