Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

 

Roster: Monday to Friday

 

Term: 2-year fixed term opportunity

 

 

The Port & State Approvals team plays a key role both internally and externally, driving communication and stakeholder engagement strategies that strengthen relationships and lay the groundwork for development, operational efficiency, and growth.

 

This position reports directly to the Manager, Port & State Approvals.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing Fortescue’s State Agreements and Port Agreements
  • Preparing and coordinating proposals, approvals and reports
  • Building and maintaining strategic external and internal stakeholder relationships
  • Timely coordination of State Agreement and Port approvals (from advice to submission) to deliver critical studies, project and operational scopes of work on schedule. 
  • Coordination of compliance obligations (e.g., reports) related to Fortescue's State Agreements and Port Agreements, including assessing scopes of work through Fortescue's Land Use Certificate (LUC) system. 
  • Building and maintaining relationships across the business to support business objectives and priorities.
  • Liaising with lead agencies responsible for administering the State Agreements and Port Agreements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills including a demonstrated ability to work effectively across operational and project teams
  • Experience in dealing with government departments and officials;
  • Excellent drafting skills including the ability to draft in accordance with statutory and contractual obligations and to quickly understand technical information from a range of mining and maritime disciplines;
  • Excellent time management skills including a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities;
  • Experience in interpreting statute law and navigating statute-based approvals regimes; and,
  • Business acumen and a strong understanding of the resources sector.
  • Tertiary qualifications in project management, business or law disciplines will be highly regarded.
