Structural Senior Engineer
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Chichester Hub – on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people.
Roster: 4D/3R (Monday to Thursday) – FIFO ex Perth
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you’ll lead a technical structural engineering team responsible for managing the structural integrity of Fortescue’s assets at Chichester Hub, in line with our Structural Integrity Management Process and Compliance Roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safety leadership aligned with Fortescue’s values and culture.
- Lead and develop a team of civil/structural engineers for asset inspections and assessments across Ore Processing Facilities (OPF) and Non-Processing Facilities (NPI).
- Review and approve engineering documents to meet regulations, specifications, and standards.
- Manage technical queries with external contractors, manufacturers, and consultants.
- Oversee or perform design checks for structural repairs and modifications (e.g., domes, beams, lifting points, platforms etc;).
- Respond to operational needs, including PM02 inspections and reactive queries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, innovative, cost-effective solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (IEAust-recognised); Master’s preferred.
- Extensive experience in mining, construction, or oil & gas sectors.
- Knowledge of Australian Standards and Codes (e.g., AS1554, AS1170, AS4100, AS3600 , AS1657 etc).
- CPEng registered or actively working towards registration.
- Strong background in structural design (reinforced concrete and steelwork).
- Experience with 3D modelling and FEA tools (e.g., SpaceGass).
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills in an engineering environment.
