Roster: 4D/3R – FIFO ex Perth.

 

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Manager, this Superintendent position is accountable for the overall performance, strategic direction, and safety of the Truck Maintenance department at Christmas Creek. The Superintendent leads a multi-tiered team - including Coordinators, Supervisors and trades personnel - to deliver world-class haul truck availability, reliability, and cost performance across the operation.

 

Success in this role requires a strong balance of operational leadership, strategic planning, stakeholder management and deep technical knowledge of large-scale mining haulage fleets. The Superintendent sets the direction for maintenance standards, oversees medium- to long-term planning and drives continuous improvement to support Fortescue’s operational and decarbonisation goals.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the end-to-end truck maintenance function to deliver fleet availability, reliability, and performance above KPI targets.
  • Provide strategic direction for short-, medium- and long-term maintenance planning, asset lifecycle management and major component strategies.
  • Oversee and develop a tiered workforce, ensuring capability, competency, and strong succession pipelines.
  • Drive a high-performance culture through effective leadership, coaching, accountability, and consistent demonstration of Fortescue’s values.
  • Ensure a safe and compliant workplace through visible field leadership, robust risk management, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee maintenance execution including servicing, shutdowns, backlog management, component changeouts, and reliability-based work strategies.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, reporting, and collaboration with Operations, Planning, Reliability, and Supply teams to optimise cost and performance outcomes.
  • Lead the department through technology transformation by integrating green fleet technologies, autonomy improvements, and digital maintenance platforms into work practices.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Extensive experience in mobile maintenance leadership, ideally at Superintendent level or above.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-layered teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of large-scale mining haul trucks and mobile equipment asset management.
  • Exposure to fleet management systems, digital maintenance tools, and new technology implementation.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, budget management, and continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022, and relevant OH&S legislation.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of influencing at multiple organisational levels.
