Our Opportunity

Work Location: Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people.

 Roster: 8D/6R ex Perth

Our HSE Strategic Planning team is looking for enthusiastic and experienced safety leaders to join the Christmas Creek team. Reporting to the Manager HSE Strategic Planning, you will be responsible for supporting site operations and assisting with the implementation of Health & Safety Management Systems to ensure continual improvement in a dynamic mining environment. 

Pivotal to this role is the day to day management of Health and Safety for the Power and Services Department, facilitate safety investigations and implement harm minimisation strategies. With previous leadership experience as well as experience in contractor management and ICAM investigations, you will be required to support line management to ensure that all safety requirements are adhered to and in compliance with all statutory regulations

Key Responsibilities

  • Participating in the control of identified hazards where appropriate
  • Coordinate the continuous improvement and compliance of our Health & Safety Management Systems.
  • Be actively involved in the Fortescue Contractor Management Process
  • Liaise with line management, consultants and Government bodies
  • Assist the operations with Fortescue's Incident Management System
  • Actively participate in the implementation of the Fortescue Major Hazard Program

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated Safety Lead/Superintendent experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health, Health, Safety, Hygiene or equivalent post graduate qualifications
  • Experience in Risk Management
  • Previous experience in the Mining or Construction industry will be highly regarded
  • Safety Auditing qualification (Lead Auditor) and an awareness of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
  • Experience in procedure development
