Work Location: Perth - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people. Regular site travel will also be required

 

 

Roster: Monday to Friday

 

 

The Superintendent – Operations Transition & Assurance ensures the safe and effective operational transition of new assets and systems into steady-state operations.

 

 

The role provides leadership and oversight of readiness and assurance activities, confirming that people, processes, and infrastructure are prepared for operational deployment. Working across multiple functions, the Superintendent coordinates and influences engineering, operations, and asset management teams to deliver site readiness, asset readiness, and operational readiness prior to handover.

 

 

Leading a small, focused team, this role embeds assurance frameworks, validates preparedness, and mitigates risk during the transition to operations.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the operational readiness strategy and coordinate readiness activities across people, systems, and processes
  • Oversee assurance reviews prior to asset handover, ensuring compliance, safety, and operational standards are met
  • Manage readiness deliverables across sites and functions to align with program milestones and operational objectives
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to drive accountability and alignment across readiness workstreams
  • Lead a small team responsible for readiness coordination, assurance governance, and cross-functional engagement
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate readiness risks, ensuring effective governance and documentation
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Operations, Engineering, Project Management, and Asset Management teams.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Electrical trade or engineering qualification
  • Demonstrated experience leading operational readiness or transition-to-operations in a large, complex environment
  • Proven leadership experience in an operational environment multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, assurance, and readiness frameworks
  • Frontline leadership experience within a mining environment with heavy mobile assets or fixed plant
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and organisational skills
  • Experience with decarbonisation, electrification, or autonomous system readiness programs
  • Exposure to assurance or risk management within a project delivery or operational context.
