The Product Assurance superintendent is a senior leadership role accountable for the planning, execution, and governance of all integration, verification, and validation activities across the Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) product line. This role ensures that complex, safety-critical, distributed mining systems meet functional, performance, safety, and regulatory requirements in alignment with ISO 61508 and OEM partner standards.
The superintendent leads cross-functional verification, integration, and validation teams—encompassing verification coordinators, test leads, test engineers, integration engineers, and field I,V&V staff. Acting as the program’s authority on verification and system readiness, the superintendent drives a structured, evidence-based approach to product assurance and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive the overall Integration, Verification & Validation (I,V&V) strategy across all product lines, ensuring alignment with system engineering lifecycle and program milestones
- Establish and enforce standards, processes, and tools for requirements traceability, test coverage, defect management, and compliance with ISO 61508
- Serve as the authority for verification, validation, and integration readiness in program and safety reviews
- Oversee integration planning and execution across SIL, HIL, and field testing environments
- Ensure integration validates critical controls, mine model management, assignment logic, health monitoring, and safety functions
- Lead system-level validation campaigns to demonstrate compliance with safety, performance, operational, and usability requirements
- Build, lead, and mentor a multi-disciplinary V&V team while balancing resources across feature verification, system integration, and customer site validation
- Drive defect management and risk-based testing, focusing on high-safety and high-availability functions (e.g., collision avoidance, GNSS integrity, site-wide stop)
- Collaborate with Product Management, System Engineering, and Architecture to embed testability in requirements and design
- Act as the single accountable leader for V&V readiness, engaging stakeholders and ensuring validated releases transition smoothly into production operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- 10+ years in systems engineering, verification, or validation roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity
- Proven experience in complex, safety-critical, distributed systems (autonomous vehicles, mining, defence, or aerospace preferred)
- Strong knowledge of ISO 61508 and functional safety practices
- Demonstrated success leading integration, SIL, HIL, and field verification campaigns
- Expertise in requirements management, test strategy, and defect triage
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
- Experience in DevOps-driven test automation and continuous integration/deployment is highly desirable.
