Supervisor HV Cable Management
Our Opportunity
Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples
Roster: 8D6R7N7R - FIFO ex Perth
Fortescue are presently looking for a highly experienced HV Cable Management Supervisor to provide supervision, leadership and technical support to the electrical high voltage and cable handling teams.
Reporting to the Mine Infrastructure Superintendent and daily to the ining Coordinator/Supervisors on all required cable movements to the electric HME, duties will include:
- managing all statutory obligations to high voltage cable handling and switching including updating cable register and electrical logbook; and
- coordinating resources and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation of the electric HME in and around the operational area to ensure delivery of production targets (this will include attending mine planning meetings to include all cable routes are built into the two weekly mine plan and keep Minestar up to date with all operational changes that may accrue in breakdown situations).
Key Responsibilities
- Hold statutory appointment as an Electrical HV Supervisor, High Voltage Operator and be a Nominee for Fortescue’s electrical installing work licence as required by the WHS regulations.
- Assist the with day-to-day allocation of work to the Electrical High Voltage Maintenance team, prioritising the work based on adherence to the weekly schedule and unplanned work that is required to be completed due to operational requirements.
- Scoping of work required for upcoming weekly plans including estimation of resource requirements, consulting with suppliers and OEMs for ordering of all the necessary parts and materials.
- Ensuring all electrical high voltage maintenance activities are undertaken in a safe and coordinated manner, in compliance with site standards and procedures and the relevant Australian Standards and WA Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations, making sure that all work is conducted to a high standard.
- Completion of all high voltage electrical work as required ensuring the recording of work completed on the relevant work orders, together with raising notifications for defects found and any remedial work that is still required to rectify any outstanding faults and ensure all cable testing and registers are up to date.
- Accountable for ensuring the statutory recording of electrical installations and other electrical work in the Electrical Logbook as required.
- Encourage compliance to Zero Harm principles daily within the team.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 3 years as an experienced HV Supervisor within mining and minimum 5 years electrical experience in the mining industry.
- Section 26 Statutory Supervisor UOC or actively working towards.
- Electrical Grade A licence.
- High Voltage Switching certificate.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulation of HV systems and equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of HV systems, fault finding and problem solving.
- Statutory testing and inspections of HV equipment and cabling.
- Preparing and executing high voltage switching programs and isolations.
- Previous experience with Electric HME.
- Strong coaching, mentoring and team building skills to maintain a good team culture.
- Senior First Aid, Low Voltage Rescue and CPR.
