We have an exciting opportunity within the Integrated Planning and Analysis team for an enthusiastic Technical Lead Data Sciences. This new role will be a key leader in the ongoing development of our new planning application Atlas which aims to maximise Fortescue’s supply chain. Working alongside a team of supply chain planners and data analysts, you will be able to problem solve scenarios and improvements before building and deploying into production. Additionally, you will dive into Fortescue’s vast datasets across its supply chain to find insights that unlock system capacity and help deliver on business goals.

Key Responsibilities
- Continuous support and development of optimisation planning application alongside our external development partner.
- Draw on a variety of different data sources to conduct analysis across a range of supply chain capacity impact questions.
- Supporting analysis and assumptions review on key data sets as part of regular planning processes in the business.
- Applying a variety of classical and modern (e.g. machine learning) statistical analysis techniques to provide insights on supply chain performance.
- Drive the development and maintenance of supporting toolkits, including static capacity models and analysis processes.
- Mentoring of peers in data analysis best practices and innovative ways of deriving meaningful insights.
- Proactively drive project outcomes and timelines whether working as an individual contributor or in larger team settings.
- Support developing the overall strategy of our system’s landscape, guiding vendors and teams to deliver to this strategy.
- Communicate insights and analysis outcomes of results to a range of operations stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary Qualifications in Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering or similar discipline.
- Previous experience in supply chain data analysis. Exposure to the Mining industry and Time Usage Models are well regarded.
- Advanced Python programming skills, with experience using Pyomo well regarded.
- Understanding of mixed-integer programming (MIP) and model relaxation strategies.
- Experience in Gurobi (or equivalent) solver configuration and tuning.
- Strong SQL skills and comfortable working with large datasets such as Snowflake and data historian systems.
- Experience with collaboration tools & ticketing systems (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, GitHub) is preferred.
