Are you an experienced professional with a strong understanding of the Western Australian Mining Act?


Fortescue is looking for a knowledgeable and proactive Tenements Advisor to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the effective management of our tenement portfolio, helping to maintain compliance with legislative requirements, and supporting our exploration and operational activities across Western Australia.

As a Tenements Advisor, you will work closely with internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies to facilitate approvals, manage obligations, and provide strategic advice on land access and tenure matters. Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for matters related to tenements within the company.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with the Western Australia Mining Act and associated regulations.
  • Provide guidance and advice on tenement management, including applications, renewals, and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews and assessments of tenement portfolios, identifying opportunities for optimisation and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, government agencies, and legal counsel to resolve tenement-related issues.
  • Stay updated on changes and developments in mining legislation, ensuring company practices remain aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare reports, documentation, and presentations on tenement-related matters for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Mining Engineering, Geology, Law, or a related field qualifications highly regarded.
  • Extensive experience (3+ years) working in the mining industry with a focus on tenement management, particularly in Western Australia.
  • Strong expertise in the Western Australia or other states Mining Act and associated regulations.
  • Proven track record of successful tenement applications, renewals, and compliance management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with a keen eye for detail and the ability to make strategic recommendations based on data and legislation.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality results within deadlines.
