Work Location: Balcatta, Perth – Fortescue’s Perth facilities are located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people
Roster: Monday to Friday
In support of Fortescue’s focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives is the production of green iron ore and steel.
Based out at our new Balcatta R&D facility and reporting to the Fabrication & Operations Manager, we are presently looking for an experienced Test Engineer to join the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design detailed test plans for equipment and systems including scheduling
- Conduct hands-on testing using lab / prototype / pilot scale equipment, including performance, durability, and functional tests
- Support workshop fabrication and assembly of test equipment
- Analyse test data and prepare detailed reports capturing insights to share with engineering, laboratory, and management teams
- Collaborating with R&D team engineers and scientists to inform iteration of designs, experiments, and testing programs
- Troubleshoot, reproduce, and investigate failures or issues, providing actionable recommendations to address root causes
- Evaluating, engaging, and managing equipment vendors / technical specialists for supply of equipment and services including writing scopes of work and ongoing contract management
- Support project management to plan, coordinate, and manage project schedules and deliverables
- Participate in design/safety review workshops and risk assessments (e.g. FMEA, HAZOP)
- Ability to work across multiple work fronts in a fast-paced environment and adapt to new requirements to meet aggressive stretch targets.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 5 years industry experience
- Hands-on experience in equipment design, development, and testing
- Experience in R&D and manufacturing would be highly advantageous
- Experience in preparing scope of works, contract tendering, and contractor management highly advantageous.
